I read books, therefore I am

I read and read and read some more. I absorb a book quickly and move on to the next. I can easily complete a book (if it holds my interest) in a few days. I love to read. I enjoy all genres and have a wide range of favorite authors. I read magazines, books, newspapers, the list goes on and on. I think reading a book is one of those things that almost always guarantees solace and relaxation. Now granted I do always keep a bookmark nearby for the times (which happen quite frequently) that I get interrupted by one of my kids (husband included in that one) or when life just peers into my cocoon of quiet. So I get asked a lot, "Read any good books lately?". I always find that I forget. Oh, no! I have read some great ones but for some reason I can't think of the author, or the exact title. Happens every time. So I decided to blog about the books I read. That way my ever expanding knowledge of books will be there for all to take advantage of! Funny, I know. I meant it to be.;)
Now on to our first book. The Horse Boy:A Father's Quest to Heal his Son by Rupert Isaacson. If I was to rate this book with a five star system it would have to surpass that. This is a must read! The author tells about his real life journey to help his son who has autism. Anyone that has been around horses knows that they are very sensitive creatures. They can pick up on the slightest negative energy and relish in the positive. Horses are so gifted and are truly one of God's greatest creations. The author has worked with horses for at least half of his life and knows them well. I am sure he never in a million years thought they could help his son. This book tells the honest journey of a father desperate to heal his child. And he goes about it as we all would, with a vigilance and determination that should be applauded. This book takes the reader on that journey with extreme clarity. You feel as if you are there on the scene with this family. You travel from the author's home in Texas to Mongolia where you meet with shamans and drink reindeer milk along with other unbelievable things. You yearn for the author's son to be healed and are amazed at every little development along the way. I will not go into details because that would really limit what you could get out of the book if you decide to read it. But, let's just say it is a must read. Bravo to Isaacson for recounting in such vivid, glorious detail his journey with his family to almost the ends of the earth.
